Randy Edmond

From Casa Grande (AZ) Dispatch, February 6, 2009:

The celebration of life for Randal Lee "Randy" Edmond, 57, of Casa Grande will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Institute for Creative Solutions, 1424 W. Gila Bend Highway, with Dr. Joan McGillicuddy and Dr. Tony Estrada officiating.

Mr. Edmond, director of the Arizona Department of Water Resources' Pinal Active Management Area, died Feb. 2, 2009 at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 28, 1951 in Muskogee, Okla. He was a dedicated public servant in the field of water resources. In 1981 he became one of the first employees of the newly formed ADWR and met and helped nearly every farmer and well owner in Pinal County establish groundwater rights. He developed a strong commitment to the county, its people and future. The highlight of his career was his success in influencing groundwater rules and regulations to help preserve water for many years to come.

He was an enthusiastic outdoorsman and cared deeply about the environment. He enjoyed hiking, reading and traveling with his wife. He was very involved with Silva workshops and the Institute for Creative Solutions.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Perkins) Edmond; his mother, Irma Dean of Florida; two stepdaughters, Penny Roubison of Goodyear and Janie Myers of Coolidge; two sisters, Swanee Nardandrea and Jenny Gorman of Florida; and three grandsons.
